*PLEASE NOTE THAT A RING SLING IS NOT A BAG SLING. IT IS NOT THE SAME DESIGN AS THE RECALLED BAG SLING CARRIER!

Why a ring sling?

Because it is adjustable. It is lightweight and easy to pack in your purse or diaper bag. It has multiple uses including: a shopping cart cover, blanket, changing pad, toddler harness/walker, etc. Ease of use and simplicity. It spreads weight evenly across your back, preventing back strain (I have used many carriers and a ring sling is the ONLY one that has not caused me ANY back pain). You can easily switch from one position to another very quickly. Switch from hip to cradle carry for nursing, and back again once they wake up. You can also put your sling on over your baby after she falls asleep without putting her down! A Ladybugz Sling is fully adjustable, so even if you gain or lose weight or as your baby grows, you can still use the same sling. Great for gifts because exact sizing is not necessary.

Is a ring sling like a pouch?

A ring sling is similar to a pouch, but it is adjustable. A pouch needs to be fitted to the wearer. If a pouch is too big, your baby will need to be supported while wearing it. If it is too small, it will be too difficult to fit your baby within the sling. A ring sling is adjustable to your baby's size. It is easily adjusted so that you do not need to support your baby while babywearing.

What is the weight limit?

Ring slings are recommended up to 35lbs, although the rings are safety tested up to 250lbs.

How safe is a ring sling?

Ladybugz Slings are each sewn very carefully by hand. We use quality rings from www.slingrings.com that are extensively safety tested. There are no weld spots, and therefore nowhere for the ring to come apart. We also use 3-4 rows of stitching, including decorative stitching, for security. We use a pleated shoulder method that ensures that there are many layers of fabric against the rings, not just one. Our fabrics are also not cheap, thin cotton. We always use medium-weight fabrics that will last through many years of use, if not indefinitely. (Reversible slings are made from 2 layers of lighter-weight fabric).

As long as your sling is used correctly, your baby is very safe in a ring sling. Always ensure that your baby has constant air flow to her face. Make sure that her head is high up on your chest and she is not crumpled up in the sling. Your baby's head should always be up higher than any other part of her body. Baby should never be carried as low as your belly button. Please check on your baby often. See our instructions page or written instructions and dvd for further safe usage information.

Can I nurse in my Ladybugz Sling?

YES! A lot of breastfeeding moms LOVE their ring slings and could not do without them! It is very easy to switch from any hold into a nursing position. Once you are accustomed to using your sling, you can attempt to even nurse HANDS FREE! I stood in a huge, long line at the grocery store on New Year's Eve one time while nursing my daughter in my ring sling. No one even knew!

What if my baby doesn't like the sling?

Practice makes perfect for both you AND baby. Putting your baby in for small bouts throughout the day will help her to be more accustomed to the sling. Also, walk around with your baby in the sling. The movement and the closeness helps them to feel safe and secure.  An advantage of a ring sling is that you can adjust it tighter or looser depending on your baby's preference. Also, once your baby gains head control, you can put her in the hip carry. The sling just adds that support so that you are hands free and your arm/back doesn't get sore.

How do I care for my sling?

Cotton or linen slings can be washed in cold or warm water. If washed on warm, a cotton sling may shrink in length by 1-2 inches, especially if you put it in the dryer. If you put your sling in the dryer, wrap a sock over the rings to prevent the clanging noise :) We recommend hanging your sling, smoothing out the wrinkles and letting it air dry. It seems to dry nicer that way.
Silk slings can be washed, but they will shrink by a few inches. They also spot clean well. Hand or delicate wash on COLD cycle and HANG TO DRY! After washing, silk loses the shine and becomes softer.
Your sling should get many years of use. We always suggest to inspect your sling around the rings for any wear before using. If you notice that a seam is loose, please contact us and we will be happy to repair it for you no charge.

Are Ladybugz Slings padded?

We do not add padding to our slings for two reasons: first, because padding in the shoulder and/or rails makes the sling bulkier and harder to adjust. Second, because when we add shoulder padding, the sling is no longer pleated at the rings and does not stay put on your shoulder as well. That said, if you really want padding added to your sling, give us a quick email and we can arrange a custom order for you.

Can I wear my sling on either shoulder?

Yes, a Ladybugz Sling is pleated with a centered-pleat that holds the sling onto either shoulder. If you have twins, you can wear 2 slings at once!

Do you take custom orders?

Yes, just contact us with an idea of something that you would like and we can try to put something together for you! We want to make sure that you are happy with your purchase!

Do you accept returns?

We will accept returns as long as your sling is in unwashed, unworn condition. Shipping fees are not refundable. Please contact us beforehand though, as we would rather work out any problems you are having with your sling. Usually they can be resolved very easily. We haven't had many unsatisfied customers (see our testimonials page). Ladybugz Slings are usually a lifesaver!
