BABY SLING INSTRUCTIONS

Threading your sling:

Take the rings of the sling in your left hand, and the middle of the sling tail in your right hand. Thread about 1/3 of the fabric up through both rings (try to spread the fabric evenly through the rings for easier adjustment). Fold the fabric over and loop it back through the bottom ring. The sling is now threaded. The fabric hanging down from the rings is called the “tail”.  Again, you want to make sure that the fabric is well spread, in order to slide easily through the rings.

To put on your sling:

Hold the rings of the sling with your right hand. Be sure the tail is in front of the sling. Put your left arm through the loop and bring the sling over your head. Rest the rings in front of your right shoulder. If you put the rings of the sling on your shoulder or if you put the sling around your neck you will not be as comfortable as with the rings in front of your shoulder.

 CRADLE HOLD
-Hold your baby with your left arm and with your right hand, pull the inner rail of your sling up against your chest to create a deep pocket.
-Open the pouch with one hand and, while supporting your baby's head and weight, set your baby in with the head on either side (bigger babies probably won't be comfortable with their head on the side of the rings).
-Continue to support your baby as you pull the left of the tail to tighten the outer part of the pouch and the right of the tail to tighten the inner part. Make sure that there’s a layer of fabric between your chest and baby.

 TUMMY TO TUMMY
-Hold your baby on your shoulder as if you were going to burp her.
-Slide down your baby into the pouch, spread apart the two layers of fabric to open the pouch
-Pull lower rail up to baby’s knees, and the upper rail up to his neck. If you're using this position with a newborn, you should cover her head and tighten the top of the fabric enough for head support.

 KANGAROO CARRY
-Turn your baby so that she is facing outwards.
-Cross her legs (criss cross applesauce) and lift her knees while sliding her down into the pocket.
-While supporting your baby's weight, pull the upper rail up to baby’s chest. Make sure that there’s a layer of fabric between your chest and baby’s back.

 HIP CARRY
-With the baby on your left shoulder, slide her legs down through the two layers of fabric.
-Spread open the pouch to create a seat area.
-Baby's left leg should be in front of you while his right leg will be behind you.
-Pull lower rail up to your baby’s knees to make sure she’s safely seated in the pocket.
-Pull upper rail up to her neck’s base. When switching to a cradle hold if baby falls asleep, the fabric can be pulled right up over baby's head for support.

BREASTFEEDING
You can breastfeed so easily and discreetly with your sling. While in the cradle hold (or slip baby to a modified cradle hold from a hip carry), pull the bottom ring to loosen fabric through the rings, latch baby on and then the fabric can be pulled up over baby's head or you can use the tail for a secure and private meal!

Tips:
-Always make sure that the inner rail is high enough between you and baby.  -Make sure rings are just in front of your shoulder. Too high, they will dig in your shoulder, too low they will apply pressure on your breast
-Shoulder is well centered and spread and that fabric is well spread all the way across your back, and it's not twisted. That way weight will be comfortably distributed and won't cause strain.
-If the sling slides off your shoulder or the rings are too high or low, reach into the pouch and lift baby's bottom, sliding baby over, while adjusting sling higher or lower. -Always make sure that there is air circulation to baby's face.

Before each use check your sling to make sure that the seams are intact and the fabric has no tears. Do not cook while using sling. Be careful when leaning over, bend at the knees. Responsibility for the safety of the child is held by the person using the sling and not Ladybugz Slings or myself. By purchasing and/or using a Ladybugz Sling, you are agreeing not to hold the seller liable in the event of any misuse or unforeseen accidents.

Machine wash cool with like colours. Hang to dry. Iron, if needed, on a low setting. I always suggest to wash your sling before wearing. They are not usually prewashed. Dupioni Silk is preshrunk, please hand wash or machine wash on delicate/cold and HANG TO DRY!!!
